This video shows a wonderful example of civility among disputants. There is some so called "behind the curtain" information on "how sausages are made". As with so many discussions of climate, I'm reminded of Ike's Farewell Address- "The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.

Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.

It is the task of statesmanship to mold, to balance, and to integrate these and other forces, new and old, within the principles of our democratic system-ever aiming toward the supreme goals of our free society."

Unfortunately, politics, and not statesmanship, not even science, seems to dominate the climate/energy narratives and policies.

Good to see climate people on both sides dialoging. The lack of dialog on the two energy sides is really terrible.

What's wiid is this pattern goes way beyond the basic fight over CO2's climate role. Advocates for particular solutions (rapid renewable expansion, nuclear renaissance) waste countless hours trying to denegrate each other even when decarbonization is the ultimate and-and-and challenge. My writing and speaking on the need to overcome intolerance of "response diversity" is worth exploring: https://revkin.substack.com/i/120351651/diversity-inevitable-desirable-uncomfortable
